Dembélé: PSG back to title hunting

Ousmane Dembélé sent a warning to Paris Saint-Germain’s rivals, saying they are back tonight for titles.

This statement comes following a 5-0 win over Olympique de Marseille at the Parc de Princes in the Ligue tie, a match in which he netted a brace.

The victory returned the European champions to the summit of the Ligue with 51 points, two above RC Lens.

Dembélé, the reigning Balloon d’Or holder, said the win at the Parc des Princes on Sunday was more than a victory.

He also said it was a signal of intent, and they really wanted to play a great game and send a message.

“We’re back, and we are ready to hunt after titles,” the Ballon d’Or winner told Ligue 1 Plus.

The French attacker in a mixed zone interview said Luis Enrique’s men handled the start of the season well, as last year’s start was more difficult.

“ Important moments are coming up, be it in the league or the Champions League. We will also have RC Lens on our tails,” he added.

Dembélé further stated that the game could be a “turning point” in his season, and he is feeling better and getting into a rhythm after some injury setbacks this season.

PSG got the job done through goals from Dembélé, Georgian striker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and South Korean midfielder Lee Kang-in. An own goal was recorded to complete the manita.

The result also left Marseille in the 4th spot with 39 points after week 21.

Similarly, Enrique said it was a good game but not the best moment of the season for his lad as they were rampant in thrashing a fierce rival.

PSG ensured a total dominance that made it one-way traffic throughout, a revenge for their defeat in the return leg.

He cited the Champions League clash against Sporting Lisbon, which he said they played a better match but suffered a  2-1 loss.

“We scored, but we hit the post four times as well. We created a lot of chances. But over the course of the season, I remember better matches than this one. This match is very important for our confidence,” the gaffer added.
