Norwegian striker Erling Haaland has scored his second consecutive Premier League hat-trick as Manchester City walloped newly-promoted Nottingham Forest 6-0 on Wednesday evening at Etihad Stadium.
Haaland, who joined Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund this summer, scored his first Premier League hat-trick at the weekend when Manchester City defeated Crystal Palace 4-2.
On Wednesday evening, the Norwegian was on song as he scored a 38-minute hat-trick to now put his Premier League tally at nine goals in five games.
He scored the first goal in the 12th minute before adding another in the 23rd minute of the game, while the third from the Norwegian came in the 38th minute.
Manchester City did not relent in the game as Joao Cancelo, and Julian Alvarez all scored in the second half, a comprehensive victory. The win puts Pep Guardiola’s side second on the table with two points behind League leaders Arsenal.
Meanwhile, the Gunners got a spirited 2-1 victory against Aston Villa at Emirates Stadium. Mikel Arteta’s side are the only team still with 100% in the Premier League this season.
However, this record was shaky at some points against Steven Gerrard’s side as Aston Villa leveled with 15 minutes left to play in the second half. Arsenal took the lead through Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus in the first half, but Douglas Luiz equalized in the 75th minute.
Gabriel Martinelli scored the winner two minutes later as the Gunners prepare for a tough clash with Manchester United at the weekend.
Meanwhile, in other games, Liverpool scored late into stoppage time to secure a 2-1 victory against Newcastle United. Fabio Carvalho was the hero with the late winner.
Wolves and Bournemouth played a 0-0 draw, while Spurs were also held by West Ham to a 1-1 draw.
On Thursday, Manchester United will face Leicester City at the Kings Power Stadium.
