Everton part ways with manager Sean Dyche

Everton parted ways with manager Sean Dyche, just hours before their FA Cup match against Peterborough last night. Dyche’s departure was announced on Thursday, with the club citing poor performance as the reason for his sacking. The 53-year-old had been in charge of Everton since January 2023 and had managed to steer the team to safety last season.

However, this season has been a different story, with the Toffees struggling to find form and sitting 16th in the Premier League. The team’s lack of goals has been a major concern, with only 15 goals scored in 19 games. Dyche’s sacking comes as no surprise, given the team’s poor performance, and the club has already begun searching for a replacement.

In the meantime, Everton’s under-18s head coach, Leighton Baines, and club captain, Seamus Coleman, have been put in charge of the team for the FA Cup match against Peterborough. The pair have a wealth of experience, having made over 800 appearances for Everton between them.

Dyche’s sacking marks the sixth managerial change in the Premier League this season and comes barely 24 hours after West Ham United let go of Julen Lopetegui. The club’s owners, the Friedkin Group, had been reviewing Dyche’s performance, and it seems that they have decided to make a change in an effort to turn the team’s fortunes around.

Everton’s struggles this season have been well-documented, and Dyche’s sacking is just the latest development in what has been a tumultuous few months for the club. The team’s lack of goals and poor defensive record have been major concerns, and it will be up to the new manager to address these issues and turn the team’s season around.

The search for a new manager is already underway, and Everton will be hoping to make an appointment as soon as possible. Baines and Coleman took charge of the team for the FA Cup match against Peterborough on Thursday evening, with clarification expected before their next Premier League fixture next week.
