Feels good to know that good teams are interested in me: Kingsley Coman on recent transfer rumours

Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman recently spoke out on the transfer rumours linking him to Manchester City and Manchester United. According to him, he is happy that such great clubs are interested in him but he is currently content with the kind of involvement he is having at the Allianz Arena.

“It’s good to know that good teams are interested in me, it gives me additional confidence,” the France international told SportBild.

“But I have a contract here until 2023, I’m just thinking of Bayern. It’s all good, I’m happy …”

The 24-year-old made his senior debut for Paris Saint-Germain in 2013 and he has gone on to enjoy a meteoric rise since then. The Frenchman joined Juventus next year and won the double of Serie A and Coppa Italia with them. Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich hired him on loan after that and the rest is history.

Bayern bought Coman outright after the end of his two-year loan stint and he has gone on to become one of the best sprinters in European football since then.

Coman, however, has had his issues with injury of late and the arrival of Leroy Sane created a little insecurity for him as well. He though the manager would use him less after his arrival but he is happy that it hasn’t turned out to be so.

“I had the feeling that I could be used less often. I’m 24, that’s an age I have to play! Fortunately, my fear did not come true,” Coman said.

“Leroy is very good, we play differently from City, he will only completely internalise our DNA. There’s four of us fighting for two positions, we’re team-mates, but of course, we all want to play as much as possible.

“At the moment I’m in a good mood, but maybe that will change in two months. Maybe then Leroy, Serge [Gnabry] or Douglas [Costa] will play. It is important that at least two of us are always in top form.”

Coman also went on to say that Bayern are quite well placed as a squad at the moment to dominate Champions League for the next few years.

“We are young or in our prime, so we still have time! We can and want to defend the title,” said Coman.

“Between 2016 and 2018 Real Madrid won the Champions League three times. I am sure that we can shape an era with this team.”
