Former legendary striker Ian Wright admits that Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has proved him wrong this season

Arsenal have been sensational this season as their 3-0 win over Brentford has helped them leapfrog over Manchester City to take the summit at the Premier League. While they had a superb transfer window this summer, other players who were already in the team have also stepped their game up in the ongoing season. One of them is former club captain Granit Xhaka who has been splendid this season for the Gunners in the heart of midfield.

Former Arsenal legend Ian Wright rightfully took notice of Xhaka’s top performances and came forward to praise him in the media. Till now Xhgaka has assisted thrice and scored one and has done enough to get a few praises especially from people who wanted him to leave the Emirates this summer.

Wright shared how for him Xhaka has finally found his mojo that he always had for his national team, Switzerland. The former striker feels that playing more offensively has helped the midfielder flourish more. He shared, “For me, Granit Xhaka is a player that we’re finally see play like he does for Switzerland, He’s playing in a position that suits him, playing more offensively. He’s playing with real authority and confidence.”

Xhaka’s talent was not unknown since his days in the Bundesliga when he used to run the midfield for Borussia Monchengladbach. So watching him do the same for Arsenal has a different feeling altogether. He has finally been deployed in a position where he is able to find spaces in the final third and is allowed to link up with the talented forwardline that the Gunners are enjoying this season. His ability to maneuver space and link up with the strikers is exemplary also Wright feels that the Swiss midfielder has one of the best left foot in the entire Premier League. “Lately he’s been able to find space and from there he can be really dangerous because, for me, he’s got easily one of the best left-foots in the Premier League.”

Xhaka was almost on the verge of joining AS Roma as Jose Mourinho really likes the Swiss international. However despite several contacts the Serie A outfit could not finalize a fee for him and the deal was off. Looking back at it Arsenal must be thanking their stars that the deal did not happen.

It has been a dream start to the Premier League for the Gunners as they are the league leader currently. Few experts and opposition team managers are also claiming them to the contenders for the title this season given the form they have shown in the early half of the Premier League. The Gunners have lost only one game against Manchester United other than that they have maintained a perfect record.
