Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville very impressed with Southampton loanee Armando Broja

Former Manchester United defender and football pundit Gary Neville is very impressed with Southampton loanee Armando Broja as Arsenal apparently have an interest in the Chelsea player.

The 20-year-old joined Southampton from Chelsea last summer. Broja since joining have delivered some impressive performances for the Saints and that has made him a top target for the Gunners.

Neville has spoken very highly of the young forward as he told Sky Sports, “(I’m)Enormously impressed by Broja. He’s so smooth. When you look at him in the final third, I think the really top young players look well ahead of their years.”

The United Kingdom born Albanian footballer has scored six goals this season in 22 Premier League appearances. Neville highlighted how Broja has more time on the ball than others think and also appreciated his finishing skills.

“He has more time on the ball than you think. They are really composed in their finishing. It doesn’t look like he’s sprinting because he is always in control. He knows what he is going to do and slows himself down in the final third. A lot of young players are erratic and they are rash. He’s not. He’s a really, really exciting talent and I like him a lot,” Neville explained.

Chelsea signed Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan for £97.5 million and that was considered as one of the best pieces of business done by the Blues in the last summer transfer window. Even Neville praised the return of the Belgium international and felt that the reunion will yield big results for the Blues. But Lukaku’s current form has been a major talking point for Chelsea. Fans are worried about how things have turned out with the former Intern Milan man.

The Belgian has scored just 10 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions so far for the Blues. Those are pretty saddening numbers for a striker who is considered to be a high profile signing for the Blues.

Some people feel that Broja could have been the player who could have forced Lukaku to work harder. He would have added another option to the manager, Thomas Tuchel.

Also, there is a possibility of him joining cross-town rivals Arsenal and playing under the tutelage of Mikel Arteta. So it will be exciting to see where the Albanian striker ends up and whether he manages to replicate similar form playing for a big club in the Premier League.
