Former Manchester United star set for return to La Liga.

Anthony Martial appears set to make a return to La Liga, with the former Manchester United striker reportedly in advanced negotiations with newly promoted Málaga.

According to reports, talks between the 30-year-old forward and the Spanish club are progressing, with an agreement believed to be close.

Martial has been without a club for the past two months after his contract with Mexican side CF Monterrey ended in July.

His deal with the Liga MX club had been expected to run until 2027, but the two parties parted ways after he made 20 appearances, scoring once and providing three assists.

A move to Málaga would see Martial return to Spanish football several years after his previous experience in LaLiga.

The club secured promotion this summer and has made a difficult start to life back in the top flight, currently sitting 18th with three points.

Martial began his professional career at AS Monaco, where his performances earned him a high-profile move to Manchester United in 2015.

The Premier League club paid at least €60 million for the French forward, who made an impressive start at Old Trafford and was widely regarded as one of Europe’s promising young attackers.

However, his career soon suffered several setbacks. A loan spell at Sevilla did not produce the desired results, and Manchester United ended his contract in 2024 as he recovered from injury.

He later joined Greek side AEK Athens, scoring nine goals, but the club soon sought to move him on.

Martial then moved to Mexico to continue his career with Monterrey, but that spell also ended prematurely.

With Málaga reportedly closing in on an agreement, the former France international could have a chance to revive his career in LaLiga and provide experience to a side adjusting to life in Spain’s top flight.
