Former player, Paul Parker wants Manchester United to break the bank for West Ham’s Declan Rice

Former Manchester United player Paul Parker urges the current management to go all out for West Ham United’s Declan Rice. The English midfielder has been phenomenal for the Hammers this season.

Rice is known for his crunching tackles, crisp passing and his ability to control the tempo. But this season has scored four goals and registered three assists in 24 appearances across all competitions. This makes him a very multi-faceted player who can almost do it all.

Parker also believes that given Manchester United’s problems in midfield, Rice can be the best player to iron out issues. Parker feels the West Ham United man is the best midfielder currently in England. He feels that if Grealish can go for so much money there are no second thoughts about Rice’s high transfer value.

“If you wanted to spend a fortune on a midfield player, go and get Declan Rice, ” said Parker. “Declan is the best central midfielder in the country. If City wants to pay £100 million for Jack Grealish, if someone wants you to pay £160 million [for Declan Rice], then you gotta pay it because Jack Grealish wasn’t worth £100 million. They’ve set a mark now.”

With the situation, around Paul Pogba’s future also uncertain things are taking a drastic turn for the Red Devils as they have to take a call sooner than later. The Frenchman has earlier shared his desire to leave Old Trafford and it will be interesting to see if that interest in joining some other team reignites in Pogba.

West Ham have had a great season till now, they lost their way a little bit with consecutive Premier League losses against Arsenal and Southampton. Hence they are fifth only a point behind the Gunners.

But anyways West Ham are in better condition than Manchester United and at this rate, it will be a tough call for Rice to make. Given all the circumstances this deal would probably not happen during the current January window.

However, Paul Parker feels that Declan Rice’s style of play screams at people to not label a player as a defensive midfielder or an attacking midfielder.

“Don’t label me as a defensive midfield player. Don’t label me as an attacking midfielder as I want to be all over the park trying to control everything, ” Parker highlighted about Rice’s style.

Paul Parker is actually not wrong here as Rice has shown traits of being a pretty decent attacking midfielder. He can surely be a player who can do it all in midfield and will be a major plus for United if they somehow manage to sign the Englishman.
