Galatasaray has completed the blockbuster signing of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Serie A side Napoli for €75 million ($85.74 million), the Turkish champions confirmed on Thursday. The deal makes Osimhen the most expensive incoming transfer in Turkish football history.
The record fee far surpasses the previous benchmark, set by rivals Fenerbahce just a year ago when they secured Youssef En-Nesyri from Sevilla for €20 million. Galatasaray’s bold move not only highlights its ambition but also underlines Turkey’s growing influence in European football’s transfer market.
As part of the agreement, Napoli will receive 10 percent of any profit Galatasaray makes on a future sale of Osimhen. Confirming the deal, Galatasaray announced: “A four-year contract has been signed with the player, starting from the 2025-2026 season.”
The financial package reflects Osimhen’s star status. The 26-year-old will earn a guaranteed net salary of €15 million per season. In addition, he will receive a €1 million annual loyalty bonus and €5 million in image rights payments, compensating him for the commercial use of his name, likeness, and branding. Napoli also confirmed the details of the agreement.
Osimhen’s arrival follows a successful loan spell at Galatasaray during the 2024-25 season. After a failed permanent move away from Napoli last summer, he joined the Turkish club on a temporary deal and flourished. The Nigerian forward scored 37 goals and provided eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions, playing a decisive role in securing Galatasaray’s 25th Turkish league title.
His prolific season cemented his status as a fan favourite and gave Galatasaray the confidence to make the historic investment. By finalizing the permanent transfer, the club has signaled its intent to dominate domestically and strengthen its position in European competition.
The move is also a significant moment for Turkish football, which has long been a destination for experienced stars but rarely one for record-breaking deals involving players in their prime. With Osimhen now officially in their ranks, Galatasaray has taken a major step toward reshaping that narrative.
For Osimhen, the switch represents both continuity and ambition. Having already delivered goals and silverware in Istanbul, he now commits his future to a club where he has thrived. For Galatasaray supporters, the hope is that his goalscoring exploits will carry the team to further glory in Turkey and beyond.
At €75 million, the stakes could not be higher, but Galatasaray has made it clear it believes Victor Osimhen is worth every cent.
