Harry Kane Cools Premier League Return Talk, Open to New Bayern Deal

Harry Kane has hinted that his long-held ambition to return to the Premier League may be fading, as he revealed he is open to discussing a contract extension with Bayern Munich. The England captain, now 32, is halfway through the four-year deal he signed with the German champions after joining from Tottenham Hotspur for £86.4 million in the summer of 2023.

Since his arrival, Kane has been prolific, scoring an astonishing 103 goals in 106 appearances and helping Bayern clinch the 2024–25 Bundesliga title — the first major trophy of his career. That long-awaited success, he admits, has changed his outlook on his future.

“In terms of staying longer, I could definitely see that,” Kane said. “I spoke openly a couple of weeks ago that I have not had those conversations with Bayern yet, but if they were to arise I would be willing to talk and have an honest conversation.”

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank had recently expressed his wish to see Kane back in England, where the striker remains just 48 goals shy of Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League record of 260. However, Kane now seems less driven by that target.

“In terms of the Premier League, I don’t know. If you had asked me when I first left to go to Bayern, I would have said for sure I would come back,” he explained. “Now I have been there a couple of years I would probably say that has gone down a little bit, but I wouldn’t say I would never go back.”

Kane, who is already the all-time top scorer for both Tottenham and England, also became the fastest player this century to reach 100 goals for a club in one of Europe’s top five leagues — achieving the feat in just 104 games. Yet it wasn’t until last season that he finally ended his much-discussed trophy drought.

Reflecting on how that first taste of silverware affected him, Kane said, “When you win a title like I did last year, maybe it could be easy to go the other way and be like, ‘OK, I’ve done what I wanted to achieve.’ But it’s given me more motivation to do more and be better.”

He added that winning has pushed him to new levels of dedication: “I pushed myself the other way in terms of being even better, eating even cleaner, doing more gym. Just trying to get the most out of what I’ve got right now.”

As Kane continues to thrive in Bavaria, his once-inevitable Premier League homecoming now appears less certain and Bayern Munich could yet remain the place where his legacy grows even stronger.
