In-form Atalanta midfielder on Man United’s radar

The latest reports have emerged about the interest of the English side, Manchester United, in Atalanta’s midfielder, Ederson.

The Brazilian has been a vital squad member of the Europa League holders, and he continues to generate interest from top European clubs ahead of the winter transfer window.

It was gathered that the Red Devils had made internal evaluations and concluded that the Atalanta star would be an ideal midfield addition to the squad. The Old Trafford outfit are therefore considering stepping up their interest in the midfielder.

Ederson’s consistent performance has attracted the attention of several European giants in recent months, including Liverpool. Having established himself as one of the most complete midfielders on the international stage, Tottenham Hotspur also wanted his service.

Atalanta would not want to release one of their essential squad members in the middle of a season to strengthen another team. This winter might be too early for both parties to agree, as the Red Devils appear eager to bring him to Old Trafford.

Tuttomercatoweb reported that internal discussions among scouts and directors have singled him out as the ideal replacement for Casemiro.

According to the reports made by Manchester United, there has been increased interest in the 25-year-old in recent weeks as they are expected to approach La Dea soon to initiate talks for next summer.

Atalanta, on the summit of the Serie A log, are on the brink of qualification for the  Champions League knockout stage and are on an 11-match winning streak.

With such fear propelling them to the top of Serie A, Atalanta are not open to letting Ederson go in January to keep their chances of winning silverware fully alive.

His price tag is expected to be at least as high as Teun Koopmeiners’, who was sold to Juventus last summer in a deal worth nearly €60m, plus add-ons.
