Inter Milan are keen on keeping midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu beyond the summer as they are prepared to fend off interest from Galatasaray.
The Turkish giant are believe to be on the lookout for him as they will want a reinforcement during the upcoming transfer window.
Inter succeeded in keeping him last summer, and they are hellbent on keeping him on the team.
Whenever the Turkish international is fit, he usually gets the nod on the playmaking role ahead of others.
With just over a year remaining on his contract in San Siro, Inter will need to give him a new deal before the summer of 2027, having spent the last nine seasons playing in the city of Milan, the last five for the Nerazzurri.
The 32-year-old has on several occasions been linked with a move to Galatasaray, who reportedly saw bids for Calhanoglu rejected in the most recent summer and winter transfer windows.
Although with over a year to go on his contract, Inter are aiming to overhaul their playing squad and potentially its tactical set-up, there have been recent suggestions that they could finally allow Calahanoglu to leave for Galatasaray under the right financial circumstances this summer.
However, La Gazzetta dello Sport recently reported that this may no longer be the case. Perhaps it was his goal of the season contender during Inter’s 5-2 win over Roma in Serie A that reminded the Nerazzurri that Calhanoglu still has plenty to offer.
Inter also feel that Calhanoglu is reliable whenever he is fit, and he is one who can help maintain standards and some continuity if the team is to undergo a major overhaul this summer.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Cristian Chivu wants Calhanoglu to stay, knowing that few players offer the same skillset as the Turkiye international.
Closest similarity to him is Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez, who would almost certainly be out of Inter’s price range.
