Inter Milan set to extend Skriniar’s contract

Inter Milan are planning towards extending Milan Skriniar’s contract.

They look forward to wading off interest from the Premier League on the 27-year-old Slovakian center-back.

His contract will expire with the Nerazzurri in 2023. This becomes necessary to put pen to paper on a renewal now in order to avoid a possible departure next season.

Skriniar has been an important player for Simone Inzaghi. From the look of things, he’ll continue to be a rock in their defence for years to come.

Calciomercato.com reported that Inter are looking to extend Skriniar’s contract to 2027 with his salary at around €5m net per season.

This new development will ward off interest in the player or at least put them in a better position to deal with interest from the Premier League.

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio are expected to meet with Skriniar again as they look to close out a deal. This is expected as the player is keen to extend his stay in the Lombardy capital.

Inter coach Inzaghi is feeling confident ahead of the Coppa Italia semi-final against rivals Milan.

After the first leg that ended 0-0, the Nerazzurri will take on the Rossoneri in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-finals tonight at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza their fourth Derby della Madonnina of the season.

Speaking in a press conference, Inzaghi highlighted the importance of the game, coming from three wins in a row.

Speaking about Lautaro Martinez’s situation, the Italian said there are many doubts every day, but he might make his decision after two training sessions.

The Inter coach, who hope that the Nerazzurri could win at least one of the four Derby della Madonnina clashes this season, said they could have achieved more beforehand, but moments are decisive.

The former Lazio coach also highlighted the importance of the away goal, saying his squad have to be careful and concentrate in order to avoid elimination.

He added that winning the derby would give them extra motivation emotionally ahead of the Serie A battle.
