Inter Milan have rejected a bid from Crystal Palace for German centre-back Yann Bisseck.
Reports from Italy indicate that the offer from the Premier League side is around € 32 million, as the Nerazzurri stand firm over their asking price for the player.
According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Biasin on X, Inter want around €40 million for the defender.
Inter had initially rejected a €20 million offer from West Ham during the present transfer window.
Crystal Palace want to sign Bisseck as Marc Guehi’s future hangs in the balance. The 25-year-old, who seems unwilling to sign a new contract at Selhurst Park, has been linked with a move away from the club.
Some of the clubs linked with the England international include Liverpool and Newcastle United.
Should Guehi choose to stay for another season in London, it would not necessarily mean a deal for Bisseck could not happen. It will become much more feasible for the Premier League side to meet Inter’s demands if they know they are on the verge of a key sale in a similar position.
The one-time Germany international has become an enticing option for the Premier League sides because of his versatility. He can play in any position in the back line.
Should Inter eventually get the amount they want for the 24-year-old – about €40m, they will make a huge profit, having signed him from Danish side AGF for a fee of €7m paid in two instalments two years ago.
The towering 6’5 centre-back came through the youth ranks of his local 1. FC Köln, before having his breakthrough at AGF during his loan stint, because his opportunities in the Effzeh first-team were limited as a youngster.
After going on a series of loans at the beginning of his career, Bisseck joined Danish side AGF on an initial loan move, before the club made the deal permanent in 2022.
His performances that season caught Inter’s attention, and they activated his €7m release clause in the summer of 2023.
Although he was signed as an understudy to Inter defenders during his first season in San Siro, he took his opportunity when called upon.
He made 21 first-team appearances during his first season, including three in the Champions League.
He then got more minutes last season, making 27 appearances in Serie A, 13 in the Champions League, four in the Coppa Italia, and both matches of Inter’s Supercoppa Italiana campaign.
