Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal has been named the world’s most valuable footballer in the latest CIES Football Observatory top 100 list, capping a remarkable year for the 18-year-old.
The Spaniard, who finished second in the 2025 Ballon d’Or voting, has been valued at an extraordinary €343 million, placing him well clear of established superstars across Europe.
Yamal’s rise has continued under new Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick, with the winger becoming the club’s on-field talisman after helping the Blaugrana secure another La Liga title.
A product of La Masia, he has rapidly grown into one of the most influential young players in world football.
According to CIES, Yamal’s valuation comfortably exceeds that of Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé, underlining how highly the Observatory rates his age, performance level, contract situation, and long-term potential.
The figures highlight Barcelona’s success in retaining one of the game’s most prized assets amid ongoing financial scrutiny.
In a surprise twist, Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé was omitted entirely from the top 100 list.
Despite enjoying a glittering 2025 with Paris Saint-Germain, winning the Champions League, multiple domestic trophies, FIFA’s The Best award, and the Ballon d’Or, the 28-year-old failed to make the cut, with even the 99th-ranked player valued higher than him.
CIES analysts appear to have penalised Dembélé for his recent injury problems and limited playing time this season, factors that have fuelled speculation about his future at PSG.
The French international has made only 15 appearances across all competitions so far, and reports suggest he could consider a summer exit, with Premier League interest already emerging.
Beyond Yamal, the top 10 list features a mix of youth and experience, including Florian Wirtz, Michael Olise, João Neves, Arda Güler, and Pedri.
While comparisons with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo continue to follow Yamal, the Barcelona star has repeatedly insisted he wants to forge his own legacy, one that, judging by his current trajectory, may already be taking historic shape.
