Leao: My teammates are looking forward to the derby with Inter Milan

AC Milan striker Rafael Leao says his teammates are ‘looking forward’ to the Derby della Madonnina clash with Inter on Saturday.

After the international break, club action resumes and Serie A fans will savour the moment as another Milan derby take place this weekend.

Both teams go into the clash as the joint Serie A leaders and go head-to-head in the Derby della Madonnina as collaborative leaders.

The Portuguese attacker who has now been given the number 10 jersey at the club, said this is ‘the right moment’ to wear the jersey.

The Portuguese talent who emerged winner of a Goal of the Season for the third goal scored in the Rossoneri’s 4-0 thrashing of Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona may be in contention for the award again next year.

He started the season with an acrobatic volley against Roma.

“I had been trying for a while to score an overhead kick, and it was a wonderful moment when it finally arrived, primarily as I had never scored at the Stadio Olimpico. The overhead kick is the most satisfying way to score for a player.

Leao said he tries to do the right thing when taking men on, whether to go for a goal or assist a teammate.

“I always check to see if someone is in a good position for the pass,” he added.

Speaking on the iconic Number 10 jersey, Leao noted it felt like the right moment to take that on and show everyone what I can do wearing that jersey.

He pointed out that it is always a great game, and both teams are fired. I and all my teammates are looking forward to this match. May the best team win.

Inter Milan had the upper hand in the derby last season. They won four in a row between Serie A,  the Supercoppa Italiana and the Champions League semi-final without conceding a goal.
