Lee Carsley unveils his last roster as interim manager

England’s interim manager Lee Carsley has handed a maiden call-up to two youngsters into the Three Lions national team ahead of the November international break, where England will play two Nations League fixtures.

Southampton defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Newcastle United full-back Lewis Hall have been handed their maiden call ups for the games against Greece on 14 November and Republic of Ireland on 17 November.

Lee Carsley was not given the Three Lions job after the English FA hired Thomas Tuchel although he will not resume until 2025, giving Carsley the opportunity to amend his poor showings in the October international window.

Although England defeated Finland 3-1 in Helsinki, they were beaten 2-1 at Wembley by Greece in the other game. While defending the surprise inclusion of Lewis Hall and Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Carsley admitted that they’re both players who have played a lot of minutes this season and have shown they can consistently play in the Premier League at a high level. He also revealed that he was well familiar with both players.

The major absentees are Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope who was replaced by Southampton’s Aaron Ramsdale while the Manchester United duo Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire are ommited due to injury.

There is place for Chelsea’s Cole Palmer despite his injury doubts ahead of the weekend London derby between Chelsea and Arsenal.

Goalkeepers: Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace), Jordan Pickford (Everton), Aaron Ramsdale (Southampton)

Defenders: Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace), Ezri Konsa (Aston Villa), Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Levi Colwill (Chelsea), Rico Lewis (Manchester City), Kyle Walker (Manchester City), Lewis Hall (Newcastle), Taylor Harwood-Bellis (Southampton)
