It appears Olympique Lyon will sell two more players in the current window, as Atlético Madrid is linked with Thiago Almada, and Manchester United seems to be interested in Corentin Tolisso.
Although Almada, a 2022 World Cup winner with Argentina, was loaned to Eagle Football-owned Lyon in the second part of the 2024-2025 campaign, he may not return to the club.
The Ligue 1 side was able to sign him as they circumvented the transfer ban that the DNCG imposed on them.
With his return to the club unlikely, Les Gones own Almada’s economic rights in the Eagle Football portfolio. This has made Almada wait for his complex future to be made clearer.
According to L’Equipe, Botafogo are in charge of finding him an exit route, as he is under contract with the Brazilian outfit.
He has also been linked with SL Benfica, but the Portuguese giants are reportedly unlikely to submit an offer of €30m.
The situation could play out in favour of Atlético Madrid, as L’Equipe reported. He could then be another signing for Diego Simeone’s Colchoneros, which has become a very credible option for him in recent hours.
Meanwhile, United have made contact with Tolisso’s agent to enquire about the feasibility of a switch from Lyon to the Red Devils.
The France international midfielder rejoined formative club Lyon after a successful career with German giant Bayern Munich.
Three years after rejoining Lyon, he could leave again.
He has two years left on his current deal. Tolisso was one of the more consistent outfield Lyon players and one of the best midfielders in Ligue 1, showing his resurgence amidst Lyon’s precarious financial situation.
This has attracted interest from Manchester United, whom they faced in the Europa League quarter-finals.
The Red Devils have expressed interest in the 30-year-old midfielder, who reportedly intended to stay in France.
However, the 2018 World Cup winner could be tempted by the interest of a major club and might change his mind.
