Lyon make Wilfred Ndidi their top target

After failing to sign Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi last summer, Olympique Lyonnais are back again to convince him to join them this summer.

Now that they have secured UEFA Europa League football for next season, this should make them attractive to top players like the Nigerian international.

Lyon are looking to bolster their squad this summer, and they have already identified their targets. And the Leicester City midfielder tops their list.

Nemanja Matić and Maxence Caqueret have bossed Lyon’s midfield since the turn of the calendar year, but there is a need for recruitment in the department.

Having helped the Foxes back to the Premier League after winning the championship, the defensive midfielder is likely to garner interest this summer, and a departure cannot be ruled out.

Corentin Tolisso has also impressed, whilst Orel Mangala, who arrived at OL from Nottingham Forest in January, has failed to establish himself.

Lyon were not successful in signing Ndidi last summer, as the deal was considered too complex at the time. However, the Nigerian midfielder will be a free agent this summer, giving Les Gones the opportunity to sign him on a free transfer.

The Ligue 1 side may face competition from Everton and Real Betis to get his service, having proved himself to be in the top flight before their relegation.

Lyon had struggled at the beginning of the season before producing phenomenal form since the turn of the year, leading them to pick up the most victories of any team in the division.

They ended their season with a win against a Strasbourg side who have struggled away from home.

It is hoped that they will continue this form and compete against Paris Sainte-Germaine, who have been dominating the division.

Although they lost the Coupe de France final to PSG, a reinforcement in this team could bring massive change and more competition in the League.
