Madueke apologizes to Wolves after scoring a hattrick at Molineux

Chelsea forward Noni Madueke has apologized to Wolverhampton fans, not for scoring a hattrick against the team but for his Instagram post, which seems to insult the City just 24 hours before the game with an Instagram post.

The Blues defeated their hosts at the Molineux Stadium 6-2, with Madueke scoring three of the six goals within fifteen minutes. After a first half that ended level with a 2-2 draw, Madueke scored the hattrick in 15 second-half minutes to help the Blues to an emphatic victory.

The English youth international apologized in the post-game interview, describing his actions regarding the Instagram post as a mistake and accident even though the 22-year-old deleted the post, which trended almost immediately.

“It wasn’t meant to be out on my socials like that. I’m sure Wolverhampton is a nice town, and I’m sorry. It was a mistake, and you learn from those things. Hopefully, nothing like that happens again. In terms of the boos, I expected it, but it is part of the game. You have to be able to play under that sort of pressure.” Madueke said.

While Nicolas Jackson had scored early to give Chelsea a lead just two minutes into the game, Chelsea were dragged back twice in the first half. Goals from Matheus Cunha and Jorgen Strand Larsen meant the first half ended level despite Cole Palmer’s goal that momentarily restored the lead.

However, the second half was a straightforward affair with new signing Joao Felix scoring a late goal in addition to Madueke’s hattrick to complete the victory, Enzo Maresca’s first in the Premier League as Chelsea’s manager after losing to Manchester City in the opening game of the season.

Chelsea’s next game is an away trip to Geneva against Servette in the UEFA Europa League before Sunday’s home game against Crystal Palace.
