Manchester City come from behind to beat Sevilla 3-1

Manchester City cruised to their fourth UEFA Champions League win after beating Sevilla in a 3-1 win at the Etihad Stadium.

17-year-old Rico Lewis smashed a long-range effort agonizingly past the right post; İlkay Gündoğan pulled off a fantastic one-two with Phil Foden, only to blast his shot into the side netting.

A first UCL win after a four-match winless run perhaps inspired the Rojiblancos to draw first blood just minutes later, thanks to a superb corner delivery by Isco that fed Mir’s fantastically directed header into the right corner.

Not for long after the restart, though, as Lewis went on to become City’s youngest goalscorer in the UCL with a thumping finish into the near post following an inch-perfect assist by Julián Álvarez.

Rúben Dias could have made it 2-1 just moments later but saw his towering header brilliantly denied by Yassine Bounou’s reflexes.

Substitute Kevin De Bruyne popped up with a great defense-splitting assist that Álvarez buried into the back of the net with superb accuracy to hand City the lead in the 73rd minute.

Riyad Mahrez ended hopes of a comeback for Jorge Sampaoli’s side as the Algerian winger capped off City’s performance with a beautiful finish into the top corner.

Elsewhere, Chelsea came from behind to beat Dinamo Zagreb 2-1 to win their group after they conceded in the first as Bruno Petković’s seventh-minute header got the Croatians off to the perfect start after César Azpilicueta’s poor clearance.

Raheem Sterling drew Chelsea level, finding the bottom left corner from close range and ending his ten goalless games for club and country. Blues debutant Denis Zakaria put his new side ahead with a powerful strike after running onto Mason Mount’s cutback from the byline.

Manchester City and Chelsea will turn their attention to the Premier League with two League games and a cup tie before the World Cup break.
