Manchester City targets Spanish midfielder

Manchester City are open to signing Spanish international Dani Olmo by paying his buyout clause before Tuesday as they hope to replace Kevin de Bruyne. Dani Olmo has a buyout clause of around €60M, which will expire on Tuesday and Manchester City is monitoring the situation in a bid to get the player signed immediately after the Euro championships.

Olmo has been impressed in the German Bundesliga this past season and also in the Euro Championships, where he helped Spain win the trophy on Sunday.

Spain beat England 2-1 in the final in Berlin, and they won their fourth title in the history of the competition, condemning England to a second successive Euro disappointment.

Olmo played six games at the Euros and scored three goals and two assists in that period, with performances that have assured Manchester City that they have found a replacement for a Saudi Arabia-bound De Bruyne.

The 33-year-old Belgian midfielder was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, and although he admitted that the interest and the offer were lucrative, he is still interested in potentially winning a fifth consecutive Premier League title with Manchester City.

Alert season Kevin de Bruyne was limited to just 18 Premier League appearances last season due to injury problems, but he was still able to score four goals with ten assists as Pep Guardiola’s side went on to win the Premier League for the fourth consecutive season.

Unfortunately for him, he couldn’t replicate the same form for Belgium in the European Championship, as they were knocked out of the competition in the round of 16, scoring just once in four games.

Kevin de Bruyne has one more year left on his Manchester City contract, although he’s heavily interested in signing a new one. Manchester City may also be forced to lose Argentinian forward Julian Alvarez, who has requested to leave Etihad.
