Manchester United and Chelsea play out a 1-1 draw

Manchester United and Chelsea shared the spoils in Sunday’s Premier League clash at Old Trafford as Ruud Van Nistelrooy failed to get a victory in his first ever and perhaps only Premier League managerial duty after a 1-1 draw between both sides.

With Manchester United’s appointment of Ruben Amorim, Van Nistelrooy’s interim charge would barely last three games and after an impressive 5-2 win over Leicester during the week in the league cup, Sunday’s performance left a lot to be desired after a goalless first 45 minutes.

Wild Manchester United eventually to delete from the penalty spot through Bruno Fernandes in the 70th minute, the lead lasted just four minutes as Moses Caicedo equalised for the Blues.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa lost composure in the second half of their trip to North London to lose to Tottenham Hotspur despite taking a first-half lead to go down 4-1 in Sunday’s Premier League fixture between both sides.

Morgan Rogers had helped the visitors to a good start after taking advantage of a set piece error to help poke home and give the visitors the lead. By halftime, Aston Villa should have been 2-0 up, but disappointing finishing by the hitherto silent Ollie Watkins made sure Spurs were within touching distance of their visitors.

The second half started with Ange Postecoglou’s side taking the initiative to equalize through Brennan Johnson. Moments later, Solanke showed his intentions with an effort that forced Martinez to a low save.

However, he would not be denied when he dinked off a pass from Dejan Kulusevski in the 75th minute and four minutes later he tapped home from a pass from Richarlison before James Maddison topped it with a late goal.

Tottenham are now three points away from the top four places despite sitting in seventh with sixteen points while Villa are just above with a two points difference.
