Manchester United defender Harry Maguire backs Jadon Sancho to have a big impact at Old Trafford

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire feels that Jadon Sancho can really have a big impact at Old Trafford after his big money move from Borussia Dortmund.

After learning the ropes in Manchester City he made a decisive move to the Bundesliga joining Dortmund. It was a great decision as it helped him grow as a player in a league that is known to trust youngsters and their abilities.

Looking at his impressive performances for the Black and Yellows, Sancho became a primary target for the Red Devils. After a whole transfer window full of speculations, the England international finally made his move this summer for a transfer fee of £73 million.

Just like he took Bundesliga by storm, Maguire expects him to continue his exploits in England as well. Maguire feels that the youngster will have a big impact in his first season at the Premier League.

Maguire told Sky Sports regarding Sancho’s potential and how he can be the match-winner for the Red Devils. He said, “”I think he’s been linked with us for a couple of seasons now and it felt a bit like my transfer when I was joining Manchester United, where it didn’t happen one season but the following season we managed to get it over the line.

“I’m really excited for him, he’s an exceptional talent. He’s the type of player – with the confidence he has – who can be a real star for this club and I feel like in the future and the success we have, he can have a big part to play.”

Sancho finished last season after netting eight goals and assisting another 12 as he developed a great partnership with Erling Haaland. He also scored 6 goals and registered five assists in six matches, guiding Dortmund to the DFB Pokal last season. It was his only silverware at the Signal Iduna Park but if he manages to keep up his form, he will win plenty of trophies at Old Trafford.

Apart from Sancho, Manchester United have also signed former Real Madrid centre back, Raphael Varane. The World Cup winning defender is all set to partner Maguire at the heart of the defence. While these two signings will definitely increase their overall quality, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not ruling out surprise transfers.
