Manchester United lose in Turkey, while Chelsea makes light work of Stade Rennais

 

English Premier League side Manchester United lost away to Instabul Basaksehir in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday evening while Chelsea were comfortable in their victory against Stade Rennais.

Former Chelsea striker Demba Ba scored the opening goal in the 13th minute of the game before Edin Visca doubled the lead five minutes before half time, but Anthony Martial pulled one back three minutes later.

The second half didn’t see any goal and the result ended Manchester United’s 100% percent record in the competition while the win keeps up the hopes of the Turks who have so far lost their initial two matches.

In the group’s other match, RB Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain played out a 2-1 win for the Germans, but Manchester United managed to keep their top spot in the table.

Meanwhile, in London at the Stamford Bridge, Timo Werner scores a brace as Chelsea beat Ten-Man Stade Rennais 3-0.

The German forward scored two first-half penalties on the tenth minutes and 5 minutes before half time.

Tammy Abraham scored the team’s scored the third goal 5 minutes after the restart to round off the win for the Blues.

Chelsea has managed to keep a clean sheet in all three group stage matches with 7 points from three matches, with Sevilla being the only draw from three matches.

In other matches on Wednesday, Barcelona Beat Dynamo Kyiv 2-1 at the Camp Nou while Juve beat Ferencvarosi 4-1 in Hungary.

In Belgium, Club Brugge lost to Dortmund 3-0 while Sevilla, with a man down, came from behind to beat Krasnodar 3-2. Zenit drew Lazio 1-1 in Russia.

In the Europa League on Thursday, Arsenal will host Molde while Leicester will welcome Braga to the Molineux while Tottenham will travel to Bulgaria to face Ludogorets.
