Manchester United show interest in Real Madrid midfielder

Manchester United are reportedly keeping close tabs on Aurelien Tchouameni as the club prepares to strengthen its midfield options during the summer transfer window.

The Real Madrid midfielder has emerged as one of several international targets being monitored by the Premier League side ahead of a major rebuild.

United are expected to prioritize midfield reinforcements after focusing heavily on attacking and goalkeeping additions over the past year.

The club has also been linked with Premier League-based midfielders, including Elliot Anderson of Nottingham Forest, Carlos Baleba from Brighton & Hove Albion, and Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace.

However, concerns reportedly remain over whether Wharton’s playing style would overlap too closely with that of rising United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, who is said to be nearing an agreement on a new long-term contract at Old Trafford.

As a result, the club has continued to explore options outside England, with Tchouameni viewed as one of the standout candidates.

The 26-year-old joined Real Madrid from AS Monaco in 2022 after attracting interest from several top European clubs, including Manchester United.

Tchouameni ultimately chose the Spanish giants and has since established himself as one of Europe’s top midfielders.

Although his current deal runs until 2028 and Madrid are believed to be considering an extension, reports suggest the club could listen to significant offers following a disappointing campaign.

Changes are expected at the Santiago Bernabeu after Real Madrid endured a difficult season that could end without major silverware.

That situation has fueled speculation that some high-profile players could become available if the right bids arrive during the summer transfer market.

Meanwhile, Manchester United’s financial situation could improve with the expected departures of Casemiro and Jadon Sancho, potentially freeing up room on the wage bill.

Uncertainty also remains surrounding the future of Marcus Rashford, with FC Barcelona yet to decide whether to activate their reported option to sign the forward permanently before the June deadline.
