Manchester United stun Manchester City with late comeback

Manchester United pulled off a stunning comeback, scoring two goals in the final three minutes to defeat Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium. The win marked a remarkable turnaround for United, who had trailed for most of the match after Joško Gvardiol’s header gave City the lead.

The match was a nervy and disjointed affair, with both teams struggling to create clear-cut chances. City’s Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden both had opportunities, but it was Gvardiol who eventually broke the deadlock with a well-taken header from a short corner routine. United’s lack of conviction in the final third was a major concern, and it seemed as though City would hold on for a much-needed win.

However, United’s fortunes changed dramatically in the final minutes of the match. Bruno Fernandes equalized from the penalty spot in the 88th minute, sending Ederson the wrong way after Amad Diallo had been fouled by Matheus Nunes. The visitors then sealed the win in the 90th minute, as Amad Diallo applied the finishing touch to a brilliant ball in behind from Lisandro Martínez.

The comeback was a devastating blow for City, who have now won just one of their last 11 matches across all competitions. The defeat leaves City nine points off the title pace, and manager Pep Guardiola will be under increasing pressure to turn things around.

United’s win, on the other hand, was a major boost for manager Ruben Amorim, who has been under scrutiny in recent weeks. The victory marked United’s first win over City in the Premier League since 2021, and it could be a turning point in their season.

The dramatic win will give United a huge confidence boost as they look to climb the Premier League table. With City’s title hopes taking a major hit, the focus will now shift to the chasing pack, and United will be looking to capitalize on City’s misfortune.
