Marquinhos out of France tie as Les Bleus reveal camp location

Marquinhos won’t be able to participate in the friendly match between Brazil and France scheduled for Thursday.

This was revealed by Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti in a press conference on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Les Bleus are already in Boston as they prepare to face  Brazil at Foxborough’s Gillette Stadium on Thursday, then fly south to face Colombia at Landover’s FedEx Field on Sunday.

Marquinhos is among the notable absentees for the prestigious friendly match.

However, the Seleção coach failed to specify the injury that the 31-year-old PSG captain suffered.

Marquinhos is an experienced defender for the Brazilian national team with 103 caps, scoring 7 goals. The centre-back was injured in training on Monday, likely due to a muscle strain.

Although it’s an unserious injury,  the former Real Madrid and PSG coach said he could be available for the second friendly of the gathering, against Croatia next Wednesday.

Brazil are already without Gabriel Magalhaes and left-back Alex Sandro. Ancelotti also revealed that Flamengo’s central defender Leo Pereira is expected to start and make his international debut at the age of 30.

Les Bleus are also without Arsenal defender William Saliba and Roma midfielder Manu Kone, who are ruled out due to injuries while playing for their clubs.

France didn’t announce a replacement for the duo, who are expected to return to action for the remaining part of the season as they are considered an important part of the squad.

Ahead of the summer World Cup, it’s an opportunity for both sides to try several players while handing some their debut.

Les Bleus are making top preparation for their camping for the World Cup as they have reportedly settled for Bentley University in Waltham, northwest of Boston.

This development came up after they opted against setting up their training camp at Babson College.   L’Equipe reported that the French FA  failed to agree on a financial settlement with FIFA and the private business school over the use of the training facilities.
