Marseille sign Timothy Weah, set to sell Rowe

After confirming the arrival of Timothy Weah from Juventus, Olympique de Marseille are set to listen to offers fòr Jonathan Rowe.

The Ligue 1 club confirmed the arrival of the US international on loan fòr the season.

According to L’Équipe, the two clubs agreed for the US international to join Marseille on loan for the season for a €1m fee. The deal could also be made permanent next summer for a mandatory fee of €14 million, with bonuses of up to €3 million.

Weah has now returned to a country where he has spent the majority of his career. He had stints with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain and Lille OSC. Having won the Ligue 1 titles with both clubs, the versatile winger will be hoping he can repeat the feat with Marseille.

The 25-year-old  is another option for the defense and will likely compete for the starting spot on the right of Roberto De Zerbi’s back four. His versatility makes him a player who can also play as a forward and can also provide cover for Mason Greenwood on the right of the attack.

Meanwhile,  Rowe could be on his way out of the club this summer. This follows a report from RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, who claimed that Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş are linked to the England youth international.

According to Foot Mercato,  the former Norwich City winger is not favouring a move to Fenerbahçe, and he is also linked with AS Roma and Atalanta.

The left-winger who can play as a striker. However, it is also being monitored by some teams in the Premier League.

It is now left to see if those clubs will make a bid for the Englishman as Marseille reportedly look at their options going into the new season.

Should they fail to bid for him, De Zerbi will be delighted to have the 22-year-old in his squad for the season, where they will be competing in the UEFA Champions League.
