Ole Gunnar Solskjaer denies being on borrowed time at Manchester United despite 2-0 defeat against City

It just keeps getting difficult for Manchester United and their boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. United’s poor run of form in the Premier League continued as they lost to their locals by 2-0. The scoreline might not suggest what really happened at Old Trafford on Saturday as the Red Devils were completely dominated by Pep Guardiola’s men.

It was one-way traffic from the first whistle as City dominated the possession with 68%. This was United’s fourth loss in their last six matches and it continues to get bad to worse. A fortnight ago, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team had faced a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Liverpool and since then the pressure has been mounting on the manager.

In fact, there have been several reports that Solskjaer is on borrowed time at the club and he could be sacked at any minute. However, the Norwegian denied these reports and he stated that he has good communication with the team’s management.

Solskjaer told Sky Sports: “No, I don’t start to feel like that. “I have good communication all the time with the club that’s very up-front and honest about the situation.”

Solskjaer admitted that this is not the way he wants Manchester United to play. Meanwhile, the players will now take an international break and Solskjaer feels it could not have come at a better time as the players will come back stronger.

“I’m sure when we come back the players will be fresh in their minds from internationals, and of course the demands on the players, on me are going to be high,” added Solskjaer. “We’ve just got to get back to what we started to look like and what we were for a while. We’ve got the players to do that.

“We’ve been through this a few times. Since the last game we played here [Liverpool defeat], it’s been a very difficult period and we’ve gone away from what we used to be. “We need to be on the front foot more, I can’t look at myself and say this is the way I want Manchester United to play.”

Manchester United will next face Watford on 20th November.
