Paris Saint-Germain talisman Neymar Jr. set to sign a new contract with the French champions

Paris Saint-Germain’s Brazilian talisman, Neymar Jr. assures that he is in talks with the team management over a contract extension and soon the talks will reach a very happy conclusion. Neymar whose current contract ends in 2022 is not looking to move out of the French capital instead he wants to commit his future to PSG by signing a potential long term deal.

While there are always rumours of him leaving for FC Barcelona during every transfer window, it is more or less clear that the Brazilian wizard is set to stay at the Parc des Princes for some time now as he insisted that he is happy in Paris and wants to stay here.

“We are in talks with PSG. There is nothing pressing,” the former Barcelona man told RMC Sport on Tuesday.

“Everything is nearly sorted. I feel at ease. I feel truly very happy here at PSG.

“Concerning the fans, that is what I can’t wait for the most, for them to be back in the stadium,” he added when quizzed how much he misses the PSG fans in the stadium since the matches now are mostly conducted behind closed doors.

“I hope that they support all the players, that they will be there to encourage us,” he continued.

PSG roped in Neymar during the summer transfer window of 2017 when they broke all the transfer records to offer him a mammoth £198m deal to lure him away from FC Barcelona. Since then he has been a fan favourite for the fans and has also fallen in love with the city of Paris. He has netted 84 goals in 109 games and inspiring the Parisians to three consecutive Ligue 1 titles. Recently they have been firing at the UEFA Champions League as well as last season they went as far as the finals but lost out against Bayern. This season they are again in the semifinals and will play Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

In Ligue 1 this season, PSG are only a point behind league leader LOSC Lille. However, there is a lot of competition as each team at the top are waiting for the other one to drop a point so that they can capitalise on it. With four games left to play in the league this season, Neymar will look to lead the charge for the fourth consecutive Ligue 1 title for the club.
