Premier League action continues on Tuesday

The Premier League continues on Tuesday with midweek fixtures as the football world moves closer to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Already, it is set to be a jam-packed season to accommodate the unusual calendar for the FIFA World Cup, which is slated for November and December 2022 in Qatar.

The World Cup was shifted from June-July date due to the unfavorable summer conditions in Qatar for the more conducive November-December time frame.

After very interesting and goal-filled weekend fixtures, matches continue on Tuesday with Crystal Palace hosting Brentford at Selhurst Park. The Eagles were close to snatching a shock win over Manchester City, but Erling Haaland’s hat-trick secured a 4-2 win at Etihad Stadium.

Fulham lost 2-1 to Arsenal at Emirates Stadium, but they will hope to return to winning ways against Brighton at the Craven Cottage.

Meanwhile, coming from a 2-0 victory against Leicester City at the weekend, thanks to a brace from Raheem Sterling, Chelsea will be traveling to the Saint Mary’s Stadium to face Southampton with hopes of getting a victory that will move them closer to the top of the table.

Thomas Tuchel’s side were reduced to 10 men in the game at Stamford Bridge last weekend, but they were able to get maximum points courtesy of their summer signing from Manchester City.

The final game of the day will be between Leeds United and Everton at Elland Road.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are top of the Premier League table with 12 points from four games, while Manchester City, Tottenham, and Brighton follow with ten points each.

West Ham United has completed the signing of Lucas Paqueta on a club record deal worth an initial £36.5m deal which could rise to more than £50m.

This would be more than the £45m they paid for striker Sebastien Haller from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2019. The club’s coach David Moyes explained that the Hammers are excited about the new addition.

“Whilst he will need time to adapt, we’re excited about adding another proven international to our squad,” Moyes said.
