Premier League set for June 17 restart

English Premier League will on the 17th June resume after going on a coronavirus forced break since March.

This decision was revealed after clubs met in a meeting on Thursday with two outstanding fixtures set to usher the world’s most glamorous League back to action.

Manchester City vs. Arsenal and Aston Villa hosting Sheffield United will be the first matches to be played on the day while a full round of fixtures will be played at the weekend of June 19 and June 21.

There are 92 matches left to be played in the 2019-20 English Premier League season, and the game at the Etihad stadium could make Liverpool the champions should Arsenal defeat last season’s winner in front of their fans.

However, this means that Liverpool will claim the EPL trophy, should they win the match, and lift the title without their fans, behind closed doors.

The Reds are close to their first title in over 30 years, and a win in their first game should Arsenal beat Manchester City on June 17.
Clubs had initially agreed to start contact training on Wednesday, and coronavirus testing will be done twice weekly while the fourth round of testing to see a rise in capacity testing to up to 60 people per club.

Two thousand seven hundred fifty-two coronavirus tests have been done across the League, and 12 people have tested positive, and persons tested positive will have to self-isolate for a period of 7 days.

Meanwhile, Liverpool could have the rest of their games away from the Anfield stadium as there are fears about fans showing up at the stadium for home matches.

Some other high profile games could be held at neutral venues at the request of the police, and this includes London derbies.
Liverpool are 25 points clear of Manchester City at the top of the log and are just two wins (from their remaining nine matches) away from lifting the title.
