Rampant Italy wallop Armenia 9-1

Roberto Mancini’s Italian side completed their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign with a 9-1 thrashing of Armenia.

Italy ended the last match of their final Group J game in Euro 2020 qualifying after a remarkable victory over Armenia.

Italy easily saw off the hapless Armenia side in a stunning victory that saw 10 goals scored on the night. The win completes their Euro 2020 qualifying group with a perfect 100% win record and also extends their record-breaking run to 11 successive international wins as they looked forward to next year’s Euro 2020 tournament.

The Azzurri had booked their place in next year’s European championship months ago but still played with willingness and determination. Last week, the Italians defeated Bosnia-Herzegovina to secure their 10th straight win for the first time in their history.

It was a memorable victory for AS Roma’s youngster, Nicolo Zaniolo, as he scored a brace, which were even his first international goals. While in-form Lazio human, Ciro Immobile also scored two goals for Italy, as they remarkably completed Group J with 30 points from their 10 games.

Other players who got on the score sheet include Nicolo Barella, Alessio Romagnoli, Jorginho, debutant Riccardo Orsolini and Federico Chiesa.

It would be recalled that Italy also beat the United States in a friendly before the group stages of the Euro 2020 qualifying began, and their winning run is the longest in their entire history.

Mancini’s men began the game in the front foot when Immobile scored in the eighth minute. Zaniolo also scored a minute later, and the goals began to pour in.

Armenia, however, were able to grab a consolation thanks to an excellent long-range effort from Edgar Babayan.

Roberto Mancini has definitely transformed the Italian side into a formidable team. His youthful and exciting side seem very capable of going far at the 2020 Euros. The Azzuri will look to bounce back from the disappointment of not qualifying for the 2018 World Cup.

Real Madrid are priced at 1.43 to win Real Sociedad, while Sociedad are pegged at6.94 to win Madrid.
