Real Madrid targets win over PSG in UEFA Champions League clash

Real Madrid have only lost three matches in all competitions this year, one of those losses was against Getafe in a 1-0 loss in January. The second was the 1-0 loss to Atletico Bilbao in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals in February, and the third most recent loss for Carlo Ancelotti’s side is the 1-0 loss to PSG in the UEFA Champions League in France a fortnight ago.

One more loss, especially on Wednesday, would knock the Los Blancos out of the competition, and it will also serve as a signal to do all they can to get French forward Kylian Mbappe into the team in the summer.

Kylian Mbappe was the sole goal scorer when both sides met a fortnight ago, scoring with the last kick of the game to give PSG a 1-0 win on the night and in the aggregate score.

Real Madrid has been impressive in the La Liga since that loss, having won their last three matches in the league with conviction. Wednesday’s game at the Bernabeu gives Ancellotti less pressure as he believes his team is confident of getting a comeback.

“I think all Real Madrid fans believe in the comeback even more after this. It was an important match for LaLiga first and foremost, but it now gives us even more confidence. We have to have that same intensity. I think we can repeat this performance.” Ancelotti said.

Real Madrid thrashed was held at 41 in the La Liga at the weekend. After Mikel Oyazarbal had given Sociedad a ten-minute lead, Eduardo Camavinga and Luka Modric both scored spectacular goals to put Madrid in the lead before halftime.

Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio both added one more each in the second half. Real Madrid leads La Liga with 8 points.

Meanwhile, Manchester City will host Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday as well, the Cityzens lead 5-0 from the first leg.
