Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti tests positive for COVID

Ahead of their quarter-final first leg UEFA Champions League clash with Chelsea on Wednesday at Stamford Bridge, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancellotti has not traveled with the team to London as he continues to test positive for Covid.

The Italian manager will not be on the sideline when his team takes on the Blues, who are the defending champions of the UEFA Champions League, on Wednesday in London.

The imminent absence of Ancellotti will be the second game he will miss, and his Chelsea counterpart Thomas Tuchel hopes the 62-year old Italian manager will recover quickly.

Ancelotti did not travel with Real Madrid to London, and he also misses Real Madrid’s 2-1 win against Celta Vigo in the La Liga on Saturday.

Ancellotti has continually tested positive for the coronavirus since the 30th of March and is yet to test negative, albeit he could still land in England later on Wednesday evening, which excited Tuchel.

Meanwhile, more familiar falls real entertain each other when both sides kick off the game on Wednesday evening. Former Chelsea star Edin Hazard will not play a part in the game due to his leg injury.

However, former blues goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will be in goal, and I’ve also talked about the issues that Chelsea has faced due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine while calling on new owners who are trying to acquire ownership of the club to do things that will favor the club.

“In total, I was part of Chelsea for seven years, and that was a big part of my career. I hope the new owners will understand what they are buying and that Chelsea can remain as one of the best clubs in the world.” Courtois said.

La Liga side Villarreal will hope to cause an upset when they host Bayern Munich at the Estadio de la Ceramica. Villarreal has only won two of their last five matches and will hope to get something out of the game against Bayern.
