Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah has revealed that he is more likely to leave Liverpool than stay and has also expressed his displeasure at the club’s handling of his contract renewal talks.
The 32-year-old expressed his disappointment on Monday just barely 24 hours after scoring a brace to help Liverpool defeat Southampton in a 3-2 win at St Mary’s Stadium. The goals on Sunday not only put him on 12 goals in all computations for the Reds but also made him Liverpool’s top scorer this season, leading them 8 points clear at the top of the Premier League table ahead of Manchester City.
However, he is out of contract at the end of the season after seven years at the club. The former AS Roma star revealed that while he is focused on winning the Premier League and Champions League, he’s not pleased with the contract renewal process.
“We are almost in December, and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club. I’m probably more out than in. I’m not going to retire soon, so I’m just playing, focusing on the season, and I’m trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I’m disappointed, but we will see.” Salah said.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Salah is not the only Liverpool player that is out of contract at the end of the season, with Dutch defender Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander Arnold also out of contract at the end of the season.
Liverpool have had an impressive start to life under Dutch manager Arne Slot, and they raced to an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League table, which could be extended to an 11-point gap if they can secure a victory against Manchester City next weekend.
