Solskjaer not ready to give up despite Liverpool’s 5-0 thrashing

 

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solksjear has said he will not give up is hopes and projects with the club after his team lost 5-0 to Liverpool on Sunday evening in the Premier League at Old Trafford.

The Norwegian manager has been under intense pressure of late with the Red Devils poor showings but after coming back from behind to beat Atlanta in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, fans were hopeful for a decent showing against a red hot Liverpool side.

However, it took just five minutes for Liverpool to take the lead through Naby Keita.

Diogo Jota made it 2-0 eight minutes later before Mohamed Salah scored the first of his hat-trick in the 38th minute and then completed his brace on the stroke of half-time.

He needed just five second half minutes to complete his hattrick on the evening. The goal makes him the highest scoring African player in the Premier league with 107 goals.

Manchester United were reduced ten men when Paul Pogba was sent off around the hour mark.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed the feeling within the team but stated his desire to continueto push on

“We know we are rock bottom, we can’t feel any worse than this. Let’s see where we take it, I have come too far, we have come too far as a group. We are too close to give up now.” Solskjaer said.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp savoured the moment claiming that the victory will take a long time to be replicated at the Old Trafford.

The German manager also stated that he never expected the result but that it will be talked about for a long time.

The result leaves Manchester United in seventh with 14 points from 9 games while Liverpool trail Chelsea at the top of the table with a single point.
