Ten Hag claims he’s not a magician after loss to Liverpool

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has told Manchester United fans not to expect miracles or magic after losing to Liverpool 3-0 on Sunday at Old Trafford in their match-day three Premier League fixture. The Red Devils have lost two consecutive games after last weekend’s 2-1 loss to Brighton.

Sunday’s results pile more pressure on the Dutchman as Manchester United are now with just three points from three games, leaving them in fourteenth.

Ten Hag complained about the availability of a lot of his players, including Manuel Ugarte, who had just joined the team, leaving him lacking fitness.

“It is not like I am Harry Potter. You have to acknowledge that. For three players, it was their first start of the season. Manuel Ugarte did not play one minute – he needs to build his fitness. Then we have to build him into the team. I am sure he will contribute to our team. It will take a couple of weeks, maybe even a month. That is the same for a lot of players.” Ten Hag said.

Manuel Ugarte was signed before the end of the transfer window on Friday, was registered on time to play for the team, and was eventually introduced to the Old Trafford crowd before the 3-0 defeat.

Meanwhile, Liverpool opened the scoring with Luiz Diaz and assisted by Mohammed Salah. The two combined yet again just before halftime to secure a 2-0 win into halftime. In the second half, Mohamed Salah was on hand to score his goal and make it 3-0 for Liverpool.

After winning their first game of the season, Manchester United lost two consecutive games, while Liverpool won all three matches so far in the 2024-25 season. Premier League goals are on international break, and when they return, Manchester United will face Southampton while Liverpool will host Nottingham.
