Toni Kroos extends Real Madrid contract until 2024

 

Real Madrid’s veteran Toni Kroos has decided to extend his contract by one year till the end of the 2023-24 season, the club confirmed on Wednesday. With the help of a new contract, the former German international will stay at the club until June 30, 2024.

In fact, Kroos was contemplating an early retirement however he improved his form and fitness to continue his career at the top level. Kroos has savored great success with Real Madrid since joining the club back in 2014.

“Real Madrid and Toni Kroos have agreed the extension of the player’s contract,” the club said in a statement. “Toni Kroos arrived at Real Madrid in 2014 and is already the German player who has worn our club’s shirt for the most times, with 417 games.

“In his nine seasons as a Madrid player, he has won 20 trophies: four Champions Leagues, five Club World Cups, four European Super Cups, three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and three Spanish Supercopas.”

In fact, Kroos played 30 La Liga matches for Los Blancos in the previous season, in which he scored two goals. Furthermore, he played in 12 Champions League matches, and started in the final XI on 10 occasions.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid have added the services of England’s Jude Bellingham, 19, from Borussia Dortmund and thus Kroos will face tough competition for his place in the playing XI in the next season.

Kroos has been a force to reckon with for Real Madrid in their potent midfield along with Croatia’s veteran Luka Modric, who is also expected to extend his contract with the club by one year.

Furthermore, Real Madrid also confirmed the contract extension of Nacho Fernandez till June 2024 on Thursday. Nacho will be serving as the captain for Los Blancos next season.
