Toni Kroos to sign Real Madrid extension

Toni Kroos will stay and continue at Real Madrid after reports emerged that a new one-year deal until 2025 is set to be agreed. There are direct talks between Kroos and Real on the contract, with signatures, just the formalities remaining.

This is coming after an impressive season by the German international with the Los Blancos and with Germany after returning from retirement for the March international friendlies against France and the Netherlands.

Kroos provided an assist in each game as Germany defeated France 2-0 last week and the Netherlands 2-1 on Tuesday as he prepares for Euros 2024 on home soil. The news about his extension is a contrast to his indecision just before the international break, where he claimed his future would be decided after the Euros.

“Many things are not clear about what will happen after the Euros. I don’t even have a club contract for next season yet. I would have to clarify that first. There is no problem (with Real Madrid). We’ll see, we’ll talk again. I still know whether the communication will be the same or not. I’m still in the decision-making process. The relationship between the club and me is too good for there to be problems, and I think both parties are very relaxed, and we can be too. Because we are doing well in the season, the season is going well for us. And I believe that we will find a satisfactory solution for both parties.” Kross said.

The 34-year-old midfielder has 28 games on his belt for Real Madrid this season in La Liga, with seven assists and one goal as the Los Blancos lead the table. He also has a further seven appearances in the UEFA Champions League this season. Carlo Ancelotti’s men will face Athletic Bilbao when La Liga resumes at the weekend.
