UEL: CFR Cluj Hold Sevilla on Thursday Night Europa League

Romanian Clubside CFR Cluj was held to a 1-1 draw by Spanish La Liga side Sevilla on Thursday in one of the Europa League matches.

The home side took the lead in the second half in the 59th minute through Ciprian Deac after a goalless first half.

Moroccan forward Youssef En Nesyri scored the equaliser in the 82nd minute to give the Spanish side an important away goal.

The result is a reflection of Sevilla’s poor run form as they have only managed three draws and two losses while CFR Cluj has three draws and one draw and a loss.

The second leg will come up in Spain on the 27th of February at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

In other games involving Spanish sides, Getafe beat Dutch giants Ajax 2-0, Brazilian forward Deyverson scored in the 38th while compatriot Kennedy scored his team’s second in stoppage time to give Getafe a huge 2-goal cushion to take to the Netherlands next Thursday.

Meanwhile, Españyol lost scandalously 4-0 to English Premier League side Wolves at the Molineux Stadium.

Diogo Jota scored a Hattrick while fellow Portuguese Reuben Neves scored once in the second half.

The striker’s first of his three came in the 15th through a Raul Jimenez assist, and he scored the second in the 67th minute after Raul Jimenez’s goal in the 52nd minute of the second half.

His last 81st minute through a Joao Mouthino assists making the return game on Thursday a big mountain to climb.

In Greece, Alexander Lacazette scored the Gunners’ only goal as they pipped Olympiacos to a 1-0 win.

German side Frankfurt beat Austrian side RB Salzburg beat 4-1 while Roma beat Gent 1-0, Wolfsburg 2-1 Malmo, Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 Porto, Shakhtar Donetsk beat Benfica 2-1.

In the Netherlands, AZ Alkmaar drew 1-1 LASK Linz and Inter beat Ludogorets 2-0 amongst some of the results.
