Why Mbappé was absent from France training

Kylian Mbappé was absent from France’s training session on Tuesday due to cold-like symptoms.

According to L’équipe, Mbappé is the only player in France’s 23-man squad not to train at Clairefontaine on Tuesday. 

The Real Madrid forward was part of those who trained on Monday in what was Zinédine Zidane’s first training session as manager of Les Bleus.

According to the French newspaper, the France captain is suffering fromfrom cold-like symptoms, keeping him at the Château de Clairefontaine while the rest of the squad prepare for Friday night’s UEFA Nations League opener against Turkiye.

Things are expected to change, and the 27-year-old might return to training as Zidane would be glad to have him in the squad for his first match in charge as Les Bleus boss.

As a professional, the former Paris Saint-Germain forward willis expected  be keen to recover in time for the game.

During the three-week international break, France will also face Belgium twice, as well as Italy. 

Mbappé is currently France’s all-time highest goalscorer, having surpassed Olivier Giroud during last summer’s FIFA World Cup.

According to RMC Sport, Zidane may want to move Mbappé back out to the left of France’s attack, which would allow Ousmane Dembélé to play centrally.

Meanwhile, his predecessor, Didier Deschamps,, who left the role after Les Bleus’ FIFA World Cup campaign,, is in no rush to return to the dugout.

Although the former Marseille boss wanted a return to management, he is waiting for the right project.

Deschamps left the role after 14 years as France manager, winning the World Cup in 2018, leading them to the final in 2022, and then to the semi-final last summer.
