Young Brazilian Prodigy ‘Messinho’ Dreams of Donning the Barcelona Jersey

The proud tradition of Brazilian footballers gracing the iconic Barcelona jersey is set to continue, as the Catalan club has its eyes set on young sensation Estevao William, affectionately known as “Messinho.”

Barcelona, with a history that includes legends like Romario, Rivaldo, Ronaldo, and Neymar, is eager to continue this tradition of Brazilian talent gracing Camp Nou.

Currently a 16-year-old prodigy playing for Palmeiras, Messinho has been garnering significant interest across Europe. While major clubs, including PSG and Manchester City, have set their sights on the young Brazilian, Messinho himself has expressed his ultimate dream: to play for Barcelona, the reigning La Liga champions.

In a recent interview with Mundo Deportivo, Messinho shared his aspirations, saying, “Play for Barcelona, which is one of the best clubs in the world. I was born watching Neymar, Messi, and Suárez play at Barcelona, and that is the dream I have.”

The allure of Barcelona, with its rich history and an exciting future with the new Camp Nou set to open in 2026, is a dream destination for the young talent. He even expressed his interest in getting to know the city of Barcelona.

While PSG has already tabled a €50 million offer for Messinho, and Manchester City is among the clubs tracking him, Barcelona is going through a challenging period financially. This may limit their ability to compete in terms of transfer fees. However, there is no indication that Palmeiras is willing to part with Messinho anytime soon, giving Barcelona time to potentially regroup and strengthen their position in financial terms.

An intriguing aspect of Messinho’s potential journey to Barcelona is his agent, André Cury, who also represents Vitor Roque, another Brazilian talent recently acquired by Barcelona. Cury has a close relationship with the club and Deco, further aligning the stars for Messinho’s potential arrival at Camp Nou.

While much can transpire in the world of football over the next few years, it is widely anticipated that Messinho will have a significant platform to introduce himself to the global footballing audience during the U17 World Cup, which is just around the corner.

Barcelona fans, as well as admirers of Brazilian football, are eagerly watching this emerging talent, hoping that the tradition of Brazilian brilliance at Camp Nou will continue with Estevao William ‘Messinho.’
