Hamilton Comes Third For The Second Week In A Row At The British GP

Lewis Hamilton finished third at the Silverstone Circuit, to claim his second podium of the season. The British driver has been having issues with the car this season, but it seems like he has started to get a hang of it, after he finished third at the Canadian GP two weeks ago. Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz finished first, for the first time, while Red Bull’s Sergio Perez. Perez’s teammate, Max Verstappen, continues to dominate the leaderboard, despite coming in seventh on Sunday.

The race was interrupted at some point, after Zhou Guanyu was involved in a crash that forced him and some other drivers to retire. The crash saw Guanyu’s car flip upside down, but he was mostly unhurt after that. The crash was a source of concern to everyone around the racing track due to the manner in which it happened and how the car was disoriented after tumbling severally.

Hamilton began Sunday’s race from fifth, but his position changed several times during the race, as he was second at some point before dropping to fourth, then finally finishing fifth. Speaking after the race, the seven-time world winner said that even though the car had gone through some changes, there was still work to do to get it to its best performance: “I’d like to think we are on the turning point. We are still on the bend. It was a big improvement from the car, but we’ve still got work to do.

“A big thank you to the team for all the upgrades this weekend, but we need more, naturally. We have to keep pushing, we have to stay positive, and it’s great to be back in the fight.”

No doubt, he was correct about the improvement that has taken place. At some point, Hamilton was not even getting up to third place while still in the face, as he always finished fourth and below and even failed to qualify for points a few times. But with the improvement we have seen in the past two races, it is clear that with just a few more tweaks, Hamilton might be able to win a face with the W13.
