Verstappen Leads With Most Wins This Season

Max Verstappen finished first at the Miami International Autodrome to win the Miami Grand Prix, giving him his third victory of the season. The 2021 world champion now has the most wins so far, overtaking Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who still dominates the standings, after finishing closely behind Verstappen on Sunday.

Verstappen overcame a wobbly start to the season that saw him not finishing the first race of the year. He also did not finish at the Australian GP. This means that Verstappen has won every race he has finished this season, which is quite remarkable indeed. The Dutchman looks set to win another title this season, but he would have to contend with Leclerc, who has been his rival so far.

With 17 races to go this season, it would seem a bit premature to make any predictions or forecasts about how Verstappen, or any other driver or team, would end the season. But the races we have seen so far has shown us that Verstappen is in form and is very much in the title race. Same cannot be said about seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton, who was Verstappen’s rival last year. Hamilton is currently sixth, with 36 points, in the standing and his best finish so far was at Bahrain, where he came third. Some weeks back, he said he was longer hopeful about winning a title. But it is not over yet.

Verstappen’s efforts have helped Red Bull claim the second spot in the constructor’s standing, where they are just 4 points behind Ferrari. If it continues this way, then they may just claim the lead and would be hoping to win the constructor’s cup for the first time in nine years. The last time they won it was in 2013, after which Mercedes has won it every year since then.
