Sting signs up to wrestle in AEW

Sting has reportedly signed a multi-year deal with AEW to work as a full-time talent even though it was believed that he was not allowed to take any physical bumps due to his history of neck issues.

However, according to a report by Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, there are definite plans in place for Sting to walk into the AEW ring. However, AEW doesn’t expect the 61-year-old to wrestle weekly in the Dynamite.

The main purpose of AEW behind this move is to use Sting’s star power and they are planning to do so by arranging Cinematic matches, carefully designed spots, and tag-team matches that will allow the Sting to do well while helping to bring other players into the spotlight.

There is a lot on offer for Sting in this deal as well. This association gives him the opportunity to have another go at one final run, to finish his career on his own terms unlike the WWE.

Khan played a big role in making this deal happen. He worked tirelessly and impressed Sting with his professionalism, long-term planning and the financial compensation offered by the AEW.

Sting and Khan have been friends for years as well, which eventually helped in making the deal go through. It was for Jacksonville Jaguars, an NFL team co-owned by Khan, that Sting’s son Steven Borden tried out for initially. Borden then took a tryout with the Kansas City Chief in 2015.

The deal between Khan and AEW was made in a pretty secret manner by Khan and nobody had a clue until it was finalized. Khan opened up about the details to AEW Executive Vice Presidents The Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes and World Champion Kenny Omega only once the deal was done. All of them were reportedly ecstatic to hear that and their happiness knew no bounds.

So, Stings debut on the Dynamite episode of last week was no one-timer. It was a well-planned move which was always supposed to include Cody, Darby Allin and Team Taz’s Brian Cage, Powerhouse Hobbs and Ricky Starks.

Sting will supposedly speak on the Dynamite episode of this Wednesday, in an interview with Tony Schiavone. Barrasso is highly optimistic that this Wednesday’s show could go on to draw more than 1 million viewers.
