Novak Djokovic’s former coach Bogdan Obradovic has revealed that the Serbian wants to win 30 majors in his career. Djokovic claimed his 21st slam after winning the recently concluded Wimbledon. The veteran bested Australia’s Nick Kyrgios in the final in four sets to create history.
Djokovic is at the top of his fitness and many experts believe that he has a realistic of winning around 25 majors in his career. However, as Djokovic is unvaccinated against Covid-19, he might not be able to participate in a lot of events if the rules are not relaxed, including the big US Open.
The Serbian could not take part in the Australian Open 2022 due to his visa debacle after he had received a medical exemption. Subsequently, he lost to Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinal of Roland Garros however he was able to go all the way at SW19.
Djokovic holds a slight edge over the other players in Grand slam tournaments and it would be fair to say that he currently receives stiff competition from Rafael Nadal, who has won 22 major titles.
Meanwhile, it is well known that Djokovic has always wanted to be the best in the business and he has always worked hard to reap rewards.
“I talked to Novak Djokovic when he was nine years old, that’s when we met for the first time,” Obradovic said. “After that, when he was 13, we started working together for the next 18 years, which is a very long time.
“He told me every time and I know his idea. He wants to get to the number 30, which is three-zero. That’s what Novak wants.
“So, for the next five years, he will play and he will probably have 20 opportunities to get to that number, to 30 Grand Slam trophies. Let’s see.”
