Roger Federer Committed To Winning Trophies Even As He Nears 39

 
Tennis star, Roger Federer, who is debatably the greatest tennis player to have ever lived, might be turning 39 soon but still looks forward to dominating the game.

The all-time great who turns another year in August is committed to giving his absolute best on the tennis court each day.

With Rafael Nadal hot on his heels, Federer isn’t tired of keeping a top spot on the number of trophies amassed as he aims to win even more.

Since 2017, the Swiss has been impressive, winning two Majors since he last did in 2009 and coming out tops in the 2018 ATP as well. So laudable was his victory in 2018 that he did it as the oldest player to ever grace the ATPs since the start of the ATP ranking in 1973.

Federer went even further to extend his winning streak, lifting as many as four ATP titles in 2019 alone. With that, he became only the second player – after Jimmy Connors – in the era of the Opens with 100 ATP crowns.

He also racked up brilliant performances that took him all the way in Paris and at Wimbledon, going on to reach the semi-finals of the Roland Garros and Wimbledon final, which he later lost to bitter rival Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic respectively. He would be disappointed to have lost grand chances to add another set of massive trophies to his already loaded cabinet.

Having qualified for the ATP finals, Federer topped Djokovic to secure a spot in the semi-finals before losing out on a place in the final after straight-set losses to Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The Swiss opted to stay out of the ATP Cup and then returned to action in the Australian Open. Despite suffering a groin problem and a lingering knee injury, he was able to make it through to the semi-final.

That loss though afforded him the chance to go for a surgery in February, and should the season be back after the coronavirus pandemic, and we could see the Swiss Champion steal our hearts on the court once again.

 “I try my absolute best effort every single day I walk on a practice court or on a match court; I try to interact with the fans and let them know how thankful I am,” said Federer.
