He is like LeBron James – Jerry West lauds Nikola Jokic

NBA legend Jerry West has compared Denver Nuggets Nikola Jokic to Los Angeles Lakers’ star LeBron James. Jokic played a key role in taking the Denver Nuggets to glory in the NBA 2022-23 season after they defeated Miami Heat by 4-1 in the NBA Finals.

Jokic had also thrashed LeBron James’ Lakers by 4-0 in the Western Conference finals. Meanwhile, Jokic was just unbelievable in the post-season as he ticked all the right boxes for the Nuggets. The Serbian had an average of 30 points in the playoffs.

Furthermore, he was scoring 13.5 rebounds per game and 9.5 assists per game in the postseason. Thus, he was awarded the Bill Russell trophy as the NBA Finals MVP.

Jokic was at his sublime best in the post-season and played a key role in the team’s success. The Serbian also became the first player in NBA history to have 25+ points and 15+ rebounds on 75 percent shooting in a championship-clinching win.

Speaking on Rich Eisen Show, Jerry West said, “He’s just amazing,” West said. “He really is… He’s just one of those players that if you watch him play, he’ll score 10 points, and he’ll have 15 or 20 rebounds, 12 assists, but you have to watch him carefully around the basket and some of the shots that he makes… He’s got the greatest pair of hands of any inside player.”

“He is like LeBron James,” West added. “The brilliance of him as a player, but more importantly his mind, his mind makes everyone better. These things rub off on your teammates… These kind of players are rarities, and that’s why they’re so highly coveted.”

Meanwhile, LeBron James averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 6.8 assists in 55 games in 2022-23. He was selected to play in his nineteenth All-Star games.

James has confirmed he will play his 21st NBA season.
